Subject: Re: [VHFcontesting] Bias Current for Gemini 70-1K Amp
What else is powered in the RF deck without PTT enabled? If this is ONLY the
pallet current it should draw nothing until PTT is enabled.
1 Amp with PTT no RF is correct.
I suspect you're measuring something else too.

What should I see for device DC current on the Gemini 70-1K amplifier? I
replaced the Ampleon ART1K6FH device due to failure. With the new device
installed the DC supply to the RF deck draws 1 amp powered on at idle. When
PTT is engaged the current rises to 2 amps. In an earlier conversation
with Roger at the DX Shop implied 1 amp Idq was what I should see. The 2
amp reading seems high to me, but with no technical documentation on this
amp, I have nothing to base it on. There is an adjustment on the RF deck
that is most likely for setting Idq. Should I set this back to 1 amp with
PTT and no RF drive?
