I will be on 222.080 plus or minus this evening testing out my repaired
222 MHz antenna. I was suffering from VSWR problems for a long time. It
wasn't downright terrible and I seemed to be hearing so I left it alone,
until last weekend when I really messed it up and VSWR went sky high.
Turns out I had damaged a flexible rotor cable for TX. I also found a
wet flex piece from the power divider on the array and the fixed premp
box on the mast. That problem would affect receive greatly. So I wiill
be on this evening testing at about 00:00 UT. It would be fun to make a
contact besides listening and recording echo strengths.
I made two contacts via the Moon on Tuesday night, but signals were not
so hot. I suspect Faraday, but you never know. That is why I am doing
the echo tests tonight. I want to verify if everything is really OK. I
am hoping to try another sked with KF0M in the coming mornings. I seem
to hear him just fine. Best has been -23 on each sked. We have not
completed yet.
