I hate to say it, but I must miss this Tuesday night activity period, as
I need to repair one of the 222 MHz 30 ft yagis so that it can be re
installed on Wednesday before the cold and rain appears. I also have a
helper lined up for Wednesday so I better have the antenna finished or I
miss the help window!! So I tried again today climbing the tower in
hopes I could remove the antenna. It was still windy, but things quieted
down as the afternoon wore on. I was able to get up there and I figured
a way to get at the rear of the antenna without removing the whole
thing, so I was able to get the broken part down all by myself. Wind
gusts were a problem, but I was still able to do the work. I managed to
lower the back end along with a 20 ft heliax phasing line using the rope
and pulley arrangement we rigged up on Monday. I am hoping to fix it
this evening and then haul it back up tomorrow. I feel terrible to miss
a Tuesday night, but I have GOOD excuse. Hopefully the 222 MHz Activity
Committee will not sanction me for missing it! I am still hard at work
working on that last project up in northern New Hampshire.
Activity starts around 00:00 UT on 222.100 plus or minus. Check in to
the ON4KST Chat page (144/432 Region 2) and notify others of your
presence. It always helps to post a summary so that those who are not on
222 can see what they are missing. I am off to the shop to cut and
drill aluminum!
