I am right in the middle of a rather huge re building of my VHF ham
shack. Some long suffering problems have recently been dealt with as
well. The biggest was the removal of my 144 MHz H frame, 4 X 17B2
yagis, and a busted up Rohn 45 that was suspended in trees for about a
year. All four of the long yagis were destroyed along with just about
everything else.Even the coax phasing lines were destroyed that fed the
4 yagis as well as all the cabling that fed the 144 MHz LVA consisting
of 16 5 element beams. Every run of 1/2" and 7/8" heliax was damaged
beyond repair. The coax was twisted and crimped in many spots. The
yagis look ike pretzels. Now that the debris is on the ground, and the
trees removed, I have been taking all the salvageable hardware apart,
and junking all the bad coax. the main feedline on 144 was 275 ft of
Prodelin spiralflex and it is destined for the junkyard as well. It was
destroyed when the tower came down. I am also enlarging my rather small
450 watt solar panel power system up to 1500 watts, and have added
ground mount panels and a new controller to handle the extra power that
is now available. So all this is going on and the June Contest is
here. I am exhausted from all the work! I won't be 100% active over
the weekend.
I plan to be on 222 and 432 CW and SSB. I also have the six meter setup
up and running and possibly that position will be active as well, if
WA1T comes over and sits in the 50 MHz chair. I am assuming that 50 MHz
operation will be CW and SSB as well. I am thinking that any operation
will be Saturday evening and then Sunday morning. I repaired one of
my 903 loop yagis, but never got it installed back on the tower. That
work is another project and there are just so many hours in a day. I
plan to use ON4KST Chat when I am in the shack.
