HI Walt,

Rex VK7MO has used Q65-15C on 144 MHz with good result for Au contacts.  He said that he used Tx and Rx audio freq set to 700 to ensure that the Q65 tones remained within the passband of the radios at both ends in the presence of the Doppler shift/spread. Over a 2 hour period he had an average Doppler offset of +300 Hz

I am sure that Rex would be interested in hearing from anyone who tries this here in the States, and I am also sure he'd be delighted to offer advice if asked.

Given the Doppler shift/spread present with Au and given the Doppler shift tolerance of Q65-15C as shown in Fig 3 of the following reference it is not surprising that Q65-15C works for this purpose: https://w3sz.com/Q65AircraftScatterFinal.pdf

Rex's email address is rmoncur  AT  bigpond.net.au

Rex did some more testing with Q65-15C with today's Au event and sent me some of his test results.  I have posted them at : https://w3sz.com/AuroralEvent23April2023.pdf

73,

Roger
