Here is a summary of my 222 MHz log from FN43MJ for this evening.
Activity levels were definitely up, and things were quite busy with K1DY
also making some contacts from Maine. Too bad N1BUG was absent. He would
be Mainer #3! There was some activity in many areas of the country.
W5EME is always there every Tuesday along with some others keeping the
band hopping!
I had two 500 mile QSOs, 3 X 400 mile QSOs, and three 300 mile QSOs.
Not a bad result for a late winter evening. Hopefully, things will pick
up as warmer wx comes in and summer condx build up.
I did some listening for K3SK in FM07. He was on FT8. No luck again in
trying to hear him. Good Buddy Ron can work him from Connecticut, but I
continue to strike out up here. I am still waiting for my first tropo
contact with K3SK. I did manage a QSO with VA3ELE in FN03 who was
running just 25 watts. Not bad over a 440 mile path. He was Q5 on CW
with no big fading. That is a long way for 25 watts.
I used my rotatable 4 X 22 el yagi for most of the evening. TX power
was 1500 watts. The diesel generator worked great. No issues with speed
fluctuations. My only complaint was the 14" of cement like snow
blocking the shack doors. I had to dig my way in!!
