Y'all of faith pray for me. This is my "first real adventure" out as
a rover. I played around with doing some ~20 years ago but now I'm
old fat gray haired and don't move around near as well as I once did.
I'm also an analog guy ... don't have anything against digital modes
... they're just not for me. I'm going to try and hit four grids today
starting in Waller TX EM20, over to Hempstead, EM10, down to the
Monaville area EL19 then back into Harris County (Katy area) EL29.
This is all on the NW side of Houston TX. Yeah no rare grids there.
I may run down to Freeport EL 28 tomorrow. It's not "rare" but not
real active either.
Rover is a simple three band 50/144/432 set up of a FT991 a moxon on
50 a DS144 and DS432 on a harbor freight push up mast. I plan to
stick close to the calling freq's on all bands
And we're a little blessed ... the heat broke just a little yesterday
so it shouldn't be too miserable, only into the low 90's with a 20-30%
chance of rain this afternoon.
