Hi Marshall...

I am on a non-ham related groups.io reflector, in digest mode, and it offers
both choices at the bottom of each individual message within the digest, so I
don't know why there has to be an either/or situation for the administrator to
set up. It is provided to the reader to choose at Reply time. Maybe it is only
that way in digest mode?

Or maybe a look in the wastebasket for the directions is needed. 😉.

Subject: [VHFcontesting] The 222MHz reflector...

After some chatter about 222 WAS, Jay-N1AV asked if an email reflector

would be helpful. I suppose that I should have acted instantly to

create such a reflector. However, I wanted to see if others thought it

was a good idea. Big Mistake, that. Bill-ND0B created one on groups.io

called 222MHz. Bill believes that the Reply To button should be set to

return every post to the entire group. This is the default of

groups.io, but it is easy to change. My email client has a Reply To

List button if you want to send to everyone. I would suppose that other

email clients have a similar button. Hence, if you want a post to go to

everyone, you need only Reply To List rather than Reply.

This setting has caused me and many others a lot of trouble. Proprietary

information and information / comments that are meant for a single

person are revealed to the entire group. It has happened to most of us,

I feel certain. I do not support FFMA any more because of this problem

and Bill's insistence that "His Way" was the "Only Way".

Bill claims that almost all of the reflectors that he reads have the

Reply To set to Group. I checked and I cannot find a single major VHF

reflector that is set this way. Moon-Net, the VHF Reflector, the

VHFContesting reflector, the Southeast VHF Society Reflector, the

Central States VHF reflector, and the Pacific Northwest VHF Society

reflector all have the Reply To set to Sender, not Group. To me, the

evidence is clear.

I have asked Bill nicely, twice, to change this setting, but he

refuses. Hence I have two paths.

1)I can set up another 222 reflector with the Reply To set to sender OR

2)I can just ignore his group and work on 222 via email.

Both of these have drawbacks. What do 222 operators in general think is

the right approach?

Thanks for your advice....
