I looked at the manual for my IC-910H and see that while it has 6-pin
mini-DIN DATA jacks for Main and Sub (no PTT on Sub jack), it has only
a single ACC (ACC(1)) jack. Icom HF rigs (older ones) have an ACC(2)
that has band data and PTT. I assume PTT can do what you want.

Did any of the Icom "satellite" radios (other than the ic-x75s and
predecessors which weren't "satellite" rigs but worked great for that)
have ACC(2) ports?

CI-V isn't well documented, but band info may be readable that way,
whether across USB (which the 9700 has) or CI-V directly (which I
think the 9700 also has).
