It doesn't seem too much to ask to have that drop out box option as you
suggested.
Is there a way to tell if THEY call CQ which mode they are in? I don't know why
the program can't toggle back and forth, responding with funny numbers to
people who send them, or autosequencing the ones who don't.
Never tried it, but is it possible to run 2 instances on the same computer, one
in CM and the other non-CM, and go back and forth?
One thing thats been overlooked every contest is that not all who are on the
air are playing, nor want to. I've done SOTA ops and caught flak for not
knowing my 6 digit grid on some summit which just happened to be during a
contest period.
Part of the JT modes, particularly the FT8/FT4 debacle of late, all these
fox/hound/contest types, and numerous compatible and non-compatible release
candidates has made contesting a mess the past 18 months-2 years.
It seems the more we try to get a program like this to do everything, the more
problems it will inevitably have.
I'd like some contests to be digi-only, and CW/phone/RTTY for others.
But even then, regardless of mode, not every 6m op is trying to fill a contest
log, especially for someone else. Chase them or be the target. Unlike earlier
in the thread, I say it is not reasonable to be unhappy they aren't running the
preferred RC/CM/bitrate/baud, etc. But I have been on both sides.
I'm hoping these get cleared up soon. Digimodes are great, but the problems
they introduce are great too. Last 2 years of contests have been pages of
complaints over FT modes.

Subject: Re: [VHFcontesting] FT8 contest mode incompatibly
And, you can't ask EASILY them to QSY to your other bands. Is this part of
the 2M and up lack of QSO's problem we're seeing all around the country ?
Guys, I don't care what you personally think of WSJT modes. I made no
statement pro or con on FT8 and it's virtues / lack of virtue - people
know, or think they know my opinion as related to both contesting and to
casual DXing.. All I'm looking for is a easy, QUICK and seamless way to
have some compatibility with those guys who don't wish to use WSJT while
contesting (or attempting to work contesters) but prefer a clone - a clone
with no contest mode.
Several people have said just click the RR73 button and be done with it,
but that doesn't really fulfill MY obligation to send a valid contest
exchange (if I read this correctly, the other guy wouldn't get a valid
contest exchange). So, I say again, would there be support by contesters
to petition the WSJT group to add some sort of 'quick' button to drop OUT
of CM for the one Q ?
