Hello to anyone interested in FFMA or grids on 6M. A group of VHF ops
will activate DL79 and DL89 this summer in support of the FFMA award.
Here is our basic announcement.
BEGIN ANNOUNCEMENT:
A DXpedition to DL79 and DL89
A team of VHFers is planning a DXpedition on 6M to DL79 and DL89 in
July, 2019 in support of the FFMA award. We plan to activate DL89 from
Study Butte, TX and DL79 from Presidio, TX. As before, we plan to apply
for the special event call of K5N for this expedition.
Our rough travel plans are to travel to Study Butte, TX, arriving on the
afternoon / evening of July 6th. We hope to be able to setup and
operate that night. We plan to operate there until the afternoon of
July 9th, whereupon we will tear down and move to DL79. Study Butte is
just west of the Big Bend National Park and very near the ghost town of
Terlingua, TX, the home of the famous "Chili Cookoff" series of events.
We hope to arrive in DL79 and setup so that we can run the evening of
the 9th. I am hoping that we can operate there until the early AM of
July 13th. At that point, we would break down and start the drive home.
These plans are not "cast in concrete". It may take us longer to build
up and tear down than we hope. That will mean a bit less operating time.
We will operate on SSB/CW whenever Es is available, due to the much
higher QSO rate. We will operate FT8 or MSK144 when there is no Es.
Following standard custom, we will take First Sequence on the digital
modes as we are a DXpedition.
We expect to have Internet at both locations, so we should have chat
available for coordination. Chat Page will be on the Slack VHF Chat
system. Contact Dan-N5TM if you need a link to join.
QSL system and operating frequencies are yet to be determined.

END ANNOUNCEMENT.
We have applied for the 1 x 1 callsign of K5N, but it has not yet been
granted. We can always use K5QE if for some reason our 1 x 1 request is
denied. IF you need those grids, mark your calendars and be sure you
are available those days.
