All plans are ‘go’ for my grid trip to DN08, Idaho and beyond. I’m very pleased
to say the expedition has blossomed into a coast-to-coast grid trip.

1. June 8-10: activate DN08 during June VHF Contest, along with Rod WE7X
2. June 11-15: activate southern Idaho after the contest (DN22, 23, 32,
33, 42, 43)
3. June 16-30: activate grids from Idaho to North Carolina (it’s a
leisurely drive to visit my daughter)

It’s a big trip in three parts with lots of details. Read about routes, dates,
frequencies, grids and more: https://coilgun.info/rover/dn08-june-2018.htm

I hope to see you on the air (many times!) in June.

Here’s a little more about my DN08 trip in June. Wow, great response, thanks
everyone.

Joe W0FY, you got me started looking into this trip from your first email on
Feb 17th addressed to the PNWFHS. So far today I’ve also heard from Roger W9FF,
Craig K9CT, Danny N5OMG, and Al K8SIX. (Any more? Email me at barry@k7bwh.com
<mailto:barry@k7bwh.com> ) There were a few others looking for grids near DN08
but I’m afraid that I can’t add those to this trip. Really sorry about that.

My favorite part of ham radio is hilltopping and the Pacific Northwest has some
of the most scenic and mountainous terrain in the country. I’ve activated all
the grid squares in Washington and Oregon and have the Lewis
<http://www.pnwvhfs.org/LewisAndClark.html> &Clark certificate to show for it.
However, at that time, my exploration didn’t do justice to DN08 so I’m going
back to update my maps and work as many people as possible from there. This
time I’ll have decent power and aluminum, so I’ll explore the grid for two days
and then camp on one good hilltop for the VHF contest June 9-11. After the
contest I’m continuing eastward and so will explore and activate six of the
Southern Idaho grid squares. This will be fun.

The rig is an Icom IC-9100 with a 500w amp to M2 6m5xhp. This works FB on
digital modes and I’ll probably have internet access for spotting and such. If
not, you can always track me on APRS on this trip, and I’ll publish my
operating plans in advance.

DN08 would help out here. Thanks, Roger W9FF

Please put me on the list! DN08 is one of only two I still need. I can do SSB,
CW, FT8, or JT65 with 500 w out. It’s too far for MS or I’d suggest MSK144.

Hi Craig, I’ve tentatively scheduled a 6m hilltop camping trip expedition to
DN08 for the coming June VHF Contest weekend.

Hey everyone, I’d like to hear from those who want a DN08 contact – this will
help me plan what to bring, operating modes, beam headings, and so forth.

If all my plans work out, I hope to spend the weekend in DN08 (northeast
Washington state <https://coilgun.info/rover-wa/DN08.htm> ) and then travel
eastward through southern Idaho <https://coilgun.info/rover-id/home-map.htm>
with stops possible in DN22-23, DN32-33, and DN42-43. I’ll be carrying 6m only
with 500w and a 3- or 5-el beam.

My plans are probably “excessively complicated and doomed to fail” but if it
comes to fruition then I’ll knock on Craig K9CT’s door and collect my pizza.
:-)

Any interest in spending some time in these grids June or July?

I will buy pizza and beer for your effort or more if it requires a boat.
