I suppose if you had the room and suitable supports a rhombic antenna might 
also be an option.  I've also read some accounts of people making long distance 
contacts using long wire antennas on 50 MHz.   

I'm inclined to use with the yagis that I am familiar with (:  but I did 
briefly consider using a rhombic.   A few years ago a friend and I briefly 
tried out an end fed long wire antenna on 50 MHz and it didn't seem to work 
very well (it did work well on HF.) (We were basically spending a Saturday 
afternoon listening to static on our yagi antennas during a visit to a remote 
grid during a contest and had nothing better to do with our time (:  )
