Buddy,
I have the IC-9100 with 1296 and I use the Icom AG-1200. It is not the best pre amp but it does help on receive, plus it is powered via the coax from the 9100. I do not have much success with 1296, I have lots of trees and a low QTH, so don’t make many contacts. Plus at your power levels the AG-1200 would not work in line.
Good luck 73

I bought one of the first IC 9100 and have had the 1296 module since day one. I have used a SSB Electronic 100W PA, that actually put out ~70W. This week, I upgraded to a BEKO HLV 350, 300~400 watts. I think I am hearing OK. But, I have no intention of being an Alligator. I am now wondering if I need a preamp for the IC9100? Anyone have any experience with a preamp on an IC 9100?
