I believe you will get bored and go find a better use of your time before
you work someone at random "on the .076", either 222 or 432. If you
announce you're calling there, well fine, but just calling at random ?
No. That ".076" thing is a HF practice and should stay there, IMO.
There is no reason one can't use JT65 as "just another mode" anywhere on
the band you would use SSB or CW. It's not a bandwidth hog. Whenever I
use the mode on 222 and up, I simply QSY 10 kHz or so off the calling
frequency, one way or another, just like I would do for a SSB or CW QSO.
Depending on the activity level in your area, I also wouldn't have a
problem calling CQ (or working someone - gasp !) using JT65, right on the
calling frequency.
