Analysis on data from the top 10 SOHP logs in the 2010 Sept. VHF QSO Party has
been finalized as Simulation 11 of the Distance Scoring Working Group. A
variety of distance scoring methods, both for single-band and multi-band
results, tested well in this simulation. On a limiting note, data was only
available on the largest SOHP logs, so the findings of the simulation may or
may not carry over to a full contest data stream. The simulation can be found
at:
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/VHFDistanceScoring/files/Simulations/Simulation%2011%20final.pdfA
file containing the current status of activities, including tentative findings
and conclusions, is available at:
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/VHFDistanceScoring/files/Working%20Documents%20/Current%20Status.pdfData
is currently being sorted through and analyzed on over 40% of all logs in the
2011 Sept. VHF QSO Party. Hopefully, the extensiveness of available data will
allow findings and conclusions to be stated across all classes of operation.
With data also collected from over 53 ARRL sections, the effect that distance
scoring has on low and high population density areas can also be statistically
tested.
