A simulation on distance scoring using Spring Sprint data has beenfinalized.
The paper can be found at:
https://sites.google.com/site/vhfdistancescoring/home/reports This simulation
showed that single-band distance events couldidentify and score stations which
generated longer distance contacts. In amulti-band distance event, a variety of
band weightings could alsoproduce a balance between upper and lower band
activity. The datacontained little Es in which to test, but 2 EME stations were
included in thedata stream. Various zone schedules were attempted, and while
they weresomewhat workable, none of the schedules were completely successful
inbalancing very long QSO’s with the more typical and shorter contacts
stemmingfrom tropo conditions. Data is available on two September VHF QSO
Parties, and futuresimulations will look into whether the band conditions of
that event or other zone schedules aresuitable for distance-scoring methods.
