N6NB has asked me to post the following announcement about the San Bernadino
Microwave Society 2 GHz and Up contest to the VHF Contesting reflector. This
contest started out as a regional contest, but has grown to national interest.
The rules are reasonable, scoring is distance based, roving is encouraged, and
there is a club competition. Looks like fun. - Duffey KK6MC
Last year microwave enthusiasts from eastern Canada to California
participated in the San Bernardino Microwave Society 2.3 GHz and Up
Contest. Members of five different clubs took part in the club
competition.
With its early May date, it's scheduled late enough that weather
should be good for roving and early enough that it can serve as a
tune-up and system checkout for the summer VHF, UHF and
10 GHz contests.
Here are the highlights:
The 2015 San Bernardino Microwave Society 2 GHz and Up Contest and
Club Challenge is May 2-3, 2015, starting at 6 a.m. local time on
Saturday, May 2, and ending at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, May 3. Work
all bands above 2.3 GHz. The exchange is the six-digit grid square.
Count 100 QSO points for the first contact with a station on each
band plus 1 point per km. of distance (3 points per km. on 24 GHz,
6 points per km. on 47 GHz and up). After either station moves 16
km. stations may work again for distance points. For more information,
log forms and last year's results go to: www.n6nb.com/sbmsrules.htm
