You don't need to hassle with cables to your your laptop sound card. 
The Tigertronics SingnaLink USB has its own sound chip and smartly uses the 
FT-897 Data Port.

button. Then you will see the discounted Data Port cable, TGR-SL-CAB6PM. Then 
you should get the jumper module, TGR-SL-MOD6PM, to set the unit internally for 
this cable without wire jumper hassles. Click either item link in your cart to 
see the TGR-SL-MOD6PM. 

The Tigertronics SL USB has superior s/n and adjustable transmit and receive 
level controls, plus no external speaker will be required for your radio.
