Congrats Tim ! I have Rx '1st Place' w/ only 9 Q's myself in previous
contests myself ! Felt kind of 'dumb for sending in my Log'..but 'The
More Activity..The Better' ! I am sure there are many Areas..with just
a 'little participation'..would net a 'Certificate' for the Op' who just
'merely submits a Log' ? 73

(btw..14 Q/s on 2M would be a 'Huge Opening' for me !..
unless 'Lunar or Rox' were involved !) ;-)

I just received a certificate for the 2013 January VHF Contest.
First Place SCV High Power!
I really like the new design. Looks awesome! Congratulations to the ARRL
for the makeover.
BTW, lest you think I am bragging ... I won this with just 14 contacts on 2
meters and a few more on 432 and 6... Yes, no other entries from SCV. It's
not that there are no hams here... I can see 2 other towers from my
backyard and those of you who work SS know that SCV is a hopping crazy
section full of activity...
I have tried different ways, but I just can't seem to get people interested
in VHF contests out here. If 6 is open, they might come out in June, but
in Jan and Sept, you mostly wouldn't even know there is a contest on. I am
hoping the new FM category will spark new interest and these new VHF
contesters will make their way to ssb/cw VHF activity some day.
Has anyone notice any increase at all in FM? A quick glance at the scores
database shows 23 people submitted logs in the FM only category, with most
people making under 20 contacts.... Hopefully this is just the start of
something better to come.
73 & Cheers
