Let me be clear. Greg did not take umbrage to my complaints, and did
apologize in private for not letting me know what actions he was taking
in regard to concerns voiced here on the reflectors. Greg did as he
usually does, and displayed real leadership in his quiet, unassuming
manner. It's easy for blowhards like me to get up on soapboxes and rail
against the "powers that be". Sometimes that criticism is justified, but
in this case, it was not. I should have been sure of my facts before
leveling that criticism against Greg. I didn't, and an apology was owned.
Take it from someone who has served as a volunteer leader of a
state-wide organization. It's tough, often thankless work.
The essence of politics is often compromise, and the slow grind of
things that results in progress. Things rarely happen quickly, and
solutions are often imperfect when they come. But the only way to change
any organization is from the inside, and by doing the work. Greg Sarratt
is a good leader, and a true VHF-Man. I've got no complaints about his
efforts.
Again, I spoke too soon, and I'm sorry.

Well, the way I see it is you don't owe anyone an apology. He should
have let you know what he was doing on your behalf. If he took
umbrage to the fact that you mentioned he hadn't had the courtesy to
follow up with you, he is in the wrong job. I don't get it. Did this
guy threaten you or something. :)))) Half joking.

Last week when word of the VUAC being sunset was announced by the
ARRL, I sent an e-mail to these reflectors regarding that
announcement. In that e-mail, I commented that I was disappointed
that I had not received a reply regarding our concerns about VHF
Contests from my Division Director, Greg Sarratt, W4OZK.
Just learned that Greg had been forwarding my concerns directing to
our VUAC rep, Steve Kostro, N2CEI for his consideration and that of
the VUAC at large.
So, Greg is aware of our concerns, and has been passing them along as
he should. I owe him a very public apology! My face is red--and I
stand corrected. Greg is an active VHF Operator, and has long been a
champion of our concerns to the ARRL. Which makes my mistake even the
more embarrassing.
