Greetings
Unless you plan of using Ping Jockey to coordinate MS contact during the
upcoming CQ VHF contest, you can just skip this post.
I greatly appreciate that CQ is willing to facilitate meteor scatter QSOs
by allowing us to self spot our activity. However, I noticed something in
the rules that concerns me. Here is the section:
3. Accommodation is made for stations attempting digital EME
or digital meteor-scatter contacts. Such stations calling CQ may
self-spot callsign, frequency, and sequence only and no other information.
“Chats” that potentially facilitate making or completeing a
contest QSO are not permitted (example: I see your trace now”).
Since PJ automatically appends your grid, state and name to each post, this
seems a clear violation of the rule, especially the inclusion of the grid.
As far as I know, there is no way to prevent PJ from appending this
information. The only solution I see is to edit your "User details" with
obviously bogus information.
Maybe I'm over reacting so I'd appreciate comments from others.
73,
Tom K6EU CM97ag
