Good day all,
Name is Larry, N1MIW. I am trying to modify an AM-6154 to 222MHz and have
run out of resources. The power supply has been modified and to the best of
my knowledge is working fine. The problem is that the RF cavity has the
"long shaft" (not the stubby one) that looks like it's part of the tuning
circuit (not the VHF/UHF plunger section - that's been changed). The info
I've found on the web says to cut this piece to a certain length and the doc
is just hand-drawn - but what do I do with the end? Do I leave it exposed?
Capped? What about what's inside - do I need to solder something in there? I
would experiment with the Dremel, but I don't have the equipment to repair
any major mistakes I make.
I would like to get this on the air for the January contest and give out
some points - I would think ~400 watts from my QTH would be pretty good.
That is, once I get the tower installed (but that's another story for
another list). Any guidance you can give me - pictures are a big help - will
be greatly appreciated! Thanks & good luck! Larry
P.S. I have successfully modified a 6154 to 144MHz already - the problem is
just getting one to 222 with the same type of cavity. Thanks...
