Many thanks to all who provided input on this. I had hoped, perhaps in vain,
that there was a simpler identification procedure for VHF in the US than the
established rule know to me. Not so. The existing rule can be cumbersome,
especially as a Rover and with a long call, both in operating and in logging.
To clarify, no I have no intentions of operating a split country rove at any
time. Will be all VE, or all US. Thinking out loud, I do need a vacation, and
had considered a casual rove south in the US running 144 - 432 - 1296 from Icom
910H, possibly 223 as well which I also run on 222.200 horizontal FM to match
polarization for others.
Not clear on rover routes, have seen many in the past running from Buffalo -
Rochester and south with preferred operating points. Could get as far south as
FM06.
Be interested in listening for distant multi-ops worked in the past as well as
K1TEO, and new ones not worked from VE3.
Only concern is interference from paranoid authorities. Beams may be stripped
and put in vehicle after contest to reduce this problem for the rest of the
trip.
