Would adding a coax balun (a few turns of coax by the feedpoint)
improve performance in any way?

Mike asks

Are you sure you are not asking about a "choke" and not a bulun? Some
radio may benefit from a choke. I have to run a 4" x 3 turn choke at
the feedpoint of my KB6KQ loop with the FT-100 but no other radio I
have needs it.

There is only one church,
and one set of rules.
And God wrote the rules,
not the church.
