For sale - 22 ft x 2 in diameter rotating mast for mounting on rear of a Chevy
Astro or can be modified for other vans or pick up trucks with 2 inch receiver
hitchs. I am decommissioning my mountainmobile rover vehicle and have a few
remaining items. My secord total knee replacement is scheduled for Tuesday.
While the rotator system is gone, I still have the light weight fold over mast
that mounts to a class II receiver hitch and folds over the top of the vehicle.
Included is the massive receiver hitch pintel plate, 0.250 x 3 inch wall 6 ft
aluminum mounting post, 1000 lb. winch, 4 x 4 x 36 inch steel horizontal
outrigger to align mast to vertical when deployed, 2 aluminum manual screw
jacks, a small hydraulic jack for big time leveling, hinge point, 22 ft 0.058
x 2 inch diameter rotating mast and Kevlar boom strut to keep the mast from
bending during the erection process. I will include the basic parts for
building another Hazer like rotator assembly but you need to supply a rotator,
bearing and final design (I can assist). Also supplied is adjustable aluminum
support frames that mount to an existing vehicle roof rack that keep the mast
stable and locked when folded over and during transport and a small lightweight
aluminum ladder. Remember you need to supply a rotator and lightweight
bearing. I literally have thousands of miles of travel experience with this
setup and it can be leveled, erected, and locked in place in 20 minutes, it can
be lowered and stowed in 7 to 10 minutes. It is not made for off road travel,
windy mountain tops or other heavy duty expeditions. Coax runs are generally
less than 30 ft. into the van or pick up. This allows use of ½ inch or ¾ inch
hard line if desired. I have posted many pictures over the years on the web and
can provide more to serious inquires also see
http://www.chuckmartin.com/VHFContest2003_3.htm . This setup normally
requires no drilling or welding to the vehicle, and can be easily removed off
season. $450 pick up in Oak Ridge, TN. With advance payment, I can deliver to
the Boston /Cambridge/ Somerville/ Melrose area after Easter.
