To the list:? I have both the DEM 222-28 and the XV 222. I used the XV222 with
good results with my TS 2000 at 5 watts 28 MHz drive with no attenuator or
interface. My only problem was with out of band response (paging services)
however the XV222 does offer features not found on the DEM unit. Quick change
of drive levels and rf paths without changing parts and also more important,
the Elecraft allows for the LNA to be shut down on band changes as well as
leaving the crystal oven on always if desired. This flexibility could be added
to the DEM unit but with some modification required. The ability to shut the
LNA down is significant for contest operation where multiple transverters are
used because of strong signals feeding through at 28 Mhz from other bands. I
The XV222 was retired from the Ts -2000 and is now used on my K2. I use a DEM
222-28 rigged for single line at 28 MHZ and I no longer hear the paging
services. No interface is needed and the transverter is driven directly with 5
watts from the TS 2000. There is no need to shut down the LNA because there are
no other 28 MHZ transverters running on 28 MHz at the same time. If your DEM
222-28 is set up for split line input (rx/tx) and low power 1-200 MW consider
the Kit from DEM to convert to single line and high power input. It takes up to
10 watts but is under rated. Transverter options on the TS 2000 are illusory.
