This latest flap in "Rover Road Rules" will be examined by the ARRL
Executive Committee at the League's January Board of Director's meeting.
The examination is expected to consider RRR enforcement, e.g.:
Only VUAC approved "RovoCops" shall be required to accompany each entrant
for duration of the contest.
a.)RovoCops shall be approved upon only after successful VUAC testing
they fully understand each and every RRR.
b.)RovoCops shall not be included in the number of allowed contest
entrant participants and may not operate
c.) RovoCops shall not receive from the policed entrant(s) such as, but
not limited to, drink and food.
d.) RovoCops shall observe each entrant for:
1) Who is driving?
2) Does he or her have a valid driver's license to operate the type of
vehicle being "roved"?
3) Does he or she have a valid amateur operator's license?
4) Does the entrant's state permit driving while operating a radio device?
5) Signed certification the contest entrant licensee has met RRR 1, 2, 3 and
4 above which, beginning January 1, 2008, shall be included with and made
part of the official entry.
6) Only VUAC approved "RovoCops" shall be required to accompany each entrant
for the duration of the contest.
6a. RovoCops shall not be included in the number of contest entrant
participants and may not operate
6b. RovoCops shall not receive from the entrant(s) he or she is policing
including, but not limited to, drink and food.
7) Entrants compliance with all contest rules such as bands operated,
transmitter ERP and similar
An item of particular concern is who polices the RovoCops and is expected to
receive exhaustive EC discussion.
Tongue in cheek, guys and gals, the ARRL board (probably) will do none of
the above, would they?
