So what. I am an extra and I know nothing about digital modes. If I
decided to operate a digital mode today I would have no idea what I am
doing. Don't assume because someone is an extra that they know everything.
No one knows everything. As someone pointed out earlier the big differnce
is that as an extra and someone who has been in the hobby for a while I know
what I don't know. If I did decide to start doing digital modes I would do
a lot of research before turning on the TX. The newbies aren't necessarily
like that.

My guess is lots of people buying the newer HF rigs that also have 6 meters
who are very unfamiliar with the band ...

That's right and today's license examination questions don't even hint
about informal band plans or frequency coordination bodies ........only
FCC rules and regulations pertaining to band and class of station
license limits within the band. It's only going to get worse...........

Thats why we need to tell them nicely about the band plans.99 percent of
them plain don't know.Just help them out a little and most will be fine
AND
give you a qso in the next contest. Gregg K9KL
