Hello,
Following the ham/swl log that I made with Peter Sprenghel PP5XX in
Itapoá (GG53qw), Fábio Mattos and Anderson Torquato in Garopaba
(GG51qx), cities located in the State of Santa Catarina, south Brazil.
The TEP in 88 MHz was not strong as expected. In 144 MHz we made the
usual listening of Dominica repeaters and contact with Martinica FM5CS.
We have tried several others skeds included with south USA but without
success.
However we enjoyed one Es to Argentina in 88 MHz.
We were under heavy rain in one mountain with great view to Garopaba
city and the south part of Santa Catarina Island, where is located
Florianopolis, the capital of the State. We kept the receiver on 88,1
MHz (Radio Gazeta of Sao Paulo, about 500 km far) when suddenly we heard
one advertising in spanish language for just 10 seconds or nearby. After
some minutes we heard again this station but loud. So we made one
quickly scann and then several others spanish speaking radios were on
the dial of one simple Degen 1103 with telescopic antenna! In one 3rd
period of propagation we stayed in 95,1 MHz listening announcements and
talks related to "La Rioja". Crossing the log data collected with
internet informations we found for this frequency the "Fenix FM" in La
Rioja, northwest Argentina, about 1780 km far from Garopaba, Santa
Catarina, Brazil.
Some days ago (jan,17) Mr. Fran PY2FGJ have monitored in Itapecirica da
Serra (near Sao Paulo city) the Channel 3 TV station from Viña del Mar,
Chile. La Rioja is near on the way of this Es path!
The NDBs in LF seemed very familiar of what I´ve heard in the latest
expeditions to Comprida Island with Japy DX and DXCB groups, included
the ASN Ascencion Island, southeast and central Brazil beacons but not
BRR in Bahia (one indicator to central-northeast Brazil). The only
difference was the beacons of the neighbor-state of Rio Grande do Sul.
For this band we used one RGP-3 antenna.
