Would anyone be interested in a warmup to the January VHF SS, with a twist?
I've been asked to find out if there would be enough interest in running a
4-hour sprint-style VHF contest with DX-ZONE based scoring (similar to the Stu
Perry Top Band DX Challenge that is running this weekend). With a decidedly
VHF twist to the "zones"...
QSO's made to less than 100km = 1 point
QSO's made out to 200km = 2 points
QSO's made out to 300km = 3 points
QSO's made out to 400km = 4 points
...
QSO's made out to 10000km = 200 points
You get the idea.
No EME or satellite.
A free windows-based logging software system would be made available to
calculate scores for you (and it would include an Internet component to display
results against competitors in realtime as a scoreboard).
PLEASE RELPY DIRECT.
What is "enough" interest? 50 positive replies (without commitment to actually
do it -- how easy is that!), which should be a good gauge given that this
e-mail is going to over 1,000 vhf-interested hams.

Thanks!

PS: there aren't any particulars yet...this is just a general inquiry.
