W3SO, FN00, had 124 QSOs, 38 Grids for a claimed score of 4712 in the 2005
2m Fall Sprints.
The operator was W3TEF and he reports that there was rapid fading for the
first 1 and 1/2 hours. There were a lot of new calls on and mobiles too. He
worked south to EM85, many VE3s, and a few W9s. On FM, after he worked from
Altoona, PA to Reading, PA, a nice hop, he worked a VE3 on 2m FM. This was
with a vertical antenna. Through out the sprint there was steady activity,
the football games didn't seem to effect activity.
W3SO will be on for the 222 MHz, 432 MHz, and 6m sprints. We will miss
Bill, W3IY/R and his reminders about the VHF activities and his write ups.
The ARRL September VHF Contest log didn't seem correct without W3IY/R in
the log. RIP Bill.
For the Wopsononock Mountaintop Operators,
Ed, K3IXD
