Dan -- I am confused. Pat and I have been operating as a family rover station
openly for several years. We have been mentioned in QST contest articles as
such. For us as cliff dwellers in antenna restricted space this is our only
venue for flat-out operating. We do not work each other and I don't see how
this manufactures contacts. In fact, if only one of us were operating, that
person could generate a higher score by virtue of not having to wait around
until the other family member completed the contact. We could cover more
ground and have a chance to make more contacts.
I just spent three hours setting up the car. Now I don't know. I haven't told
Pat yet. she will be deeply disappointed. this is a rule that should be
changed...even if by the "commissioner's" fiat.
I hate the "lose-lose" paradigm, but I am not sure that I can be enthusiastic
about this weekend. Please remember that before we took our first family rover
expedition I emailed you about the subject. It was your assurance that the way
we were doing it was within the rules that started the whole practice.
Maybe we're making too big of a deal about this. There are several hundred
thousands of our fellow citizens in extremely difficult straits at this time.
Maybe we should send our gas money to the Red Cross. 73, Tim K0PG
