Looks like the plans for the weekend have settled for at least two
operators.
KG6IYN will be operating from DM12rr at about 4900' elevation on 50, 144,
222, 432, 902 and 1296.
clear shots to Arizona and southern Nevada, as well as up the coast on the
California side in to the
Central Valleys. Last two contests from this location yielded fairly easy
shots about 300 to 350 miles
to the East and in the range of 400 to 500 to the North with minimal prop
enhancement. Current plan
is to look North at the top of the hour, and East at the bottom half, if six
meters is open, all bets are off .
K6VCR will be operating from DM12tu at about 6100', completely unobstructed
shots to Utah, Nevada
and Arizona. Great luck from this location to the East on all bands thru
432, with close completions
with folks in DM33 and DM43 on 1296.
Plans for a dedicated effort from DM23 are being discussed for the September
Contest.
Activity in the southwest corner of the States has been ramping up
significantly over the past couple of
years and this year San Diego appears to be a potential hot bed of activity.
Many of the operators here
will be much closer to the coast and if any tropo action occurs, they should
have great results
- When and if you have a chance, please look our direction, folks will be
available!
