I agree with N3AWS that won't get HFers to try VHF. What I keep trying to do is to get those with a rig that has 6m capability to load up the HF beam or any HF antenna on HF. I encourage them to start out with reduced power. Most hams are reluctant to full power on 6m when using a HF antenna. I have found that the tuners in the rigs can handle most HF antennas when running 100w on 6m. I have even used 160m and 80m antennas on 2m and 432MHz with my IC-746 and my IC-706MKiiG.

While this may excite and motivate the current VHF contesters, I don't see
this attracting any new blood. I think directing efforts to entice the FM only
crowd, HF contesters who never set the band switch above 30 MHz, and other
sources of new blood lurking in the wings.

Furthermore, rapid results would likely meet with immediate interest and joy
for competitors, but I doubt there would be much long term benefit. When the
ARRL first introduced the soapbox on line feature for contests, many ops took
advantage. Now, though, after even the major contests there are rarely more
than 50 entries.

But I'm in favor of anything that will raise activity levels.
