Hi Sprinters,
I managed to get on by wildly hooking up radio gear in the hour before the
Sprint began. I was a little behind schedule. Possibly winding 150 ft of #12
copperweld wire around my truck driveshaft slowed me down abit. What a mess!! I
ended up walking up the hill. I Forgot my logsheet, a wattmeter and a few other
things, so a second hiking trip was in order. I finally got on with the big rig
at 8 PM and ran
until 10 PM. I worked 41 guys in only 12 sections!! Where was everybody? I
looked towards Western NY often and heard nil. I never worked South of FM29 in
PA. I guess the band was really bad. (Although, the CCX beacon was audible all
evening from FM29.) I did work W3SO in FN00, and W4SHG in FM08 (on SSB no
less!) for my best DX. I worked only AL1VE in FN54 to my NE. It is a shame how
few people manage
to get on these bands for these sprints.
Hopefully, I can get the building repairs finished before the MW Sprint.
The plywood sheets sure take up much room, and the 15 degree tilt the building
has now is difficult for a chair with casters. I tended to slide towards the
door all evening!
