I will activate 5 grids during the ARRL VHF test on 50 thru 2304. Tentative
plans include
EM75 1800 - 2200 Saturday, elevation 5000 ft (NC)
EM85 2300 - 0300 Saturday, elevation 5140 ft (NC)
EM76 1100 - 1500 Sunday, elevation 2800 ft (TN)
EM86 1800 - 2200 Sunday, elevation 2600 ft (KY)
EM87 2200 - 0300 Sunday, elevation 2800 ft (KY)
I can hear the big stations is Philly, NJ and NYC/LI from the EM 76, 86 and
87 locations, so point your beams southwest when things slow down on Sunday
afternoon.
I hope 6 is open a little. The new PAR Moxon really kicks butt (incredibly
lightweight for the gain and turning radius). Thanks to Brian, ND3F, for
insisting I go to a Moxon and Dale at PAR for making some minor mounting
mods for me.
I have experienced very poor success getting the guys to QSY up with me when
I hit a new grid. Unless I have better luck, this is the last time I haul
2.3 ghz equipment along... Hoping for dryer weather, we had a huge amount
of moisture so far this summer.
