Hi Jacob,
There are (at least) 3 common methods of matching a 5/8 antenna-
1. Tapped L
2.  L-C.(series L, parallel C)
3. Simple series L.

A 2M 5/8 using the last 2 should work well as a shortened 1/4 wave antenna on 
6M.

#1 can be identified as it will show a DC short from center pin to shield.
