Others have covered CW activity, I use it as backup when everything else is dead. Do not let 10 watts fool you. I run SSB 5 watts in all the VHF contests. Location is key find a hill and go for it. I worked all of new england and south west on 2, 6, 220, and 432 with 5 watts, but I was at 6000'. I use 5 watts all the time from QTH on all bands and have lots of success. 820' elevation, key is to listen for openings, 50.125 on in my shack all the time. 72 Tim O'Rourke KG4CHX |
