Last cycle, I had an old TH7, which worked well.
I'm far too lazy to worry much, so I used a tuner a little and did fine, up to
1200W.
It even did OK on WARC, if I adjusted for the goofy pattern!
I took it down and put up an A-3, which is also good, but no WARC, of course.
I would NEVER do the work to model and tune 12 elements, so I see two choices:
Tune the TH6 wherever you want it to be best and play dumb (comes naturally to
me) on other frequencies. You'll likely do fine, since no one can see 2dB
anyway.
OR get a T-10, which is what I'll do, if I ever change (83 is late in a ham
career.).
Yes, it's $1500, but it's also no brain work.
And they are occasionally available used.
