I never had an issue with my M2 mast clamp on the Orion, although many have had issues. The clamp had 6 bolts in it holding the mast, and no through bolt.

Not sure why I never had an issue.

Used a galvanized (smooth) chrome 2" molly mast, which was full 22 foot long and held a TH7 and XM-240 10 feet above the TH7.
We had some pretty hefty winds in the SW part of Washington.

I don't think adding a friction material will help. There are better mast
clamp designs out there. K7NV(sk) came up with a brilliant idea of clamping
a round mast using a round clamp (imagine that). I thought that you also
manufactured a replacement clamp that used u-bolts which could be properly
tightened and remain tight.

I need more friction between an M2 mast clamp and the mast. How could I
do that? What materials would work? Tnx. Cheers,Steve K7LXCCell:
