It has been a while since I have had to replace a TIC gear or motor so I
cannot remember the details other than I removed the top screw and used a
small gear puller. Anyway your motor may be different, there are numerous
variations of TIC motors. It is possible that the motor shaft has a woodruff
key so the key will not slide off the shaft but the gear should still pull
off with a decent puller.

I have made progress. The gear has been removed. However, now the shaft key
is
keeping me from removing the entire gear assembly. There should be a slot
for
the key to slide through, but there isn't.
Surely I'm missing something obvious. How was this thing assembled ? How
would a
motor ever be replaced ?

the gear, and I don't see any set screws. Tried some WD-40. Is there any
trick before I use a propane torch on it ?
