Keith,
I purchased a SALA Exofit from
https://www.gmesupply.com/dbi-sala-exofit-nex-construction-harness The
local Wireless internet guys use this model for climbing their internet
towers, including mine. So I was able to watch it in action.
It has two D rings on the belt for attaching to the tower and a D ring
on the upper back for the fall arrest lanyard's.
I used to use a lanyard attached to the D rings for attaching myself to
the tower while working. AB5K installed my rotating tower and he used a
different setup. He used a large gorilla hook connected to each D ring
on the belt with a carabiner. It's so much easier to attach the
gorilla hook to the tower than trying to throw a lanyard around the
tower to attach to the tower.
When I need to connect to the tower so I can begin work, it's very easy
to attach the gorilla hooks to a tower and capture a cross brace so I
can't slide down. It requires very short comfortable movements to attach
to the tower in this way.
For carrying tools I ordered a couple leather pouches I attached to the
belt as well as a ring on each belt for hauling things up the tower via
a rope etc.

I started climbing back in 1998 when erecting my 150 foot Rohn 45 tower. My
ham friend who had been climbing for many years recommended a Miller nylon
climbing belt with two nylon gorilla hooks to attach while climbing. This
has served me well for more than twenty years, but as I get older, I am more
concerned with safety. I think it is time for a full body harness with fall
arrest. I would use the gorilla hooks attached to the fall arrest.
What are you using? I would like some advice, especially regarding fit and
comfort, as well as performance. Thanks.
