Lou I omitted several of your concerns, I'm not trying to sound
dismissive, but you dont truly care on the size or spec's, the vendor
will measure or see the size and these ropes come in fixed values and
will know and understand the these factors. The cable you take in pretty
well tells them all they need to know to build you an exact replacement
cable. mac/mc w5mc

Well this type situation came up recently, and the best conclusion was
put the tower in a rest position, one by one or only as you want,
release the desired cable, do nothing else till you tie on a small
sized tag rope, then weave out the effected cable and tie off the tag
rope each end.
Find a wire rope vendor, you have one near you, just might not know
it, but you'll find them. take the cable in and ask for a new one to
be made. they will be very capable of this effort and along the way as
the near final step will "proof" test the new cable to a safety factor
of several times the stated working strength. They will also affix a
small tag stating the test and proof capacity to one eye/loop.
Pay your money and get on home and feed it back thru the maze and bolt
it up and you're good to go.
UST has no magic or special ability in this effort, they are a
capitalistic based corp. But you will have just accomplished getting
the best value for your money.
good luck: mac/mc w5mc

I need to replace the wire rope/cable on my UST TRX-80HD, which I use
with
an HDX-555. The cable got bent (long story) and I’m concerned that it’s
structural integrity has been compromised. Better safe than sorry.
Does anyone know the specs for the rope? It’s ¼” and believe it’s
galvanized
(vs stainless), but I don’t know the length (absent pulling and
measuring
it), strength to look for (if there is such a spec) or anything else
to look
for in a replacement. I called UST but they won’t release any
information
about it. I can order a replacement kit but aside from the expense,
there’s
at least an 8 week lead time. Any guidance would be appreciated.
