I use MicroHAM micro STACK switches and with a simple button push I
can disable the noisy antenna on RX but it is a pain to operate that
way. I believe that there is a way to automate switching so it
transmits into all antennas and receives using just a lower one but I
have not attempted this.
As long as the PTT line is connected to microHAM Stack Max controller,
different transmit and receive antenna configurations can be selected
automatically. The information is found on page 15 (T/R Split) of the
Stack Max Users Manual:
<http://www.microham.com/Downloads/micro_STACK_SWITCH_English_Manual.pdf>
T/R Split is best used with Yaesu and Elecraft transceivers that support
an external INHIBIT signal to prevent generation of RF before the relays
in the antenna/stack switch have settled.

I have similar QRN results as KQ2M using my homebrew OWA beams. At first I
thought it was related to the OWA design but according to everything that I
have read by W8JI and others, it is not. In my case during rain static
events, no antenna is quiet however lower is definitely better. I use
