You paid Tessco to make a cable and it's open? If that is really correct
(which is difficult to achieve) I would have them resolve the problem.
Andrew/Commscope connectors usually come with installation instructions
this this:

I have a heliax cable ordered from Tessco which I paid a small fortune for,
which has an open connection on at least one end. When I received the cable,
I checked with an ohmmeter, continuity end-to-end before I buried the entire
58' jumper. Just using the cable for receiving, it suddenly opened. Using a
TDR, I can see the end that is open, which appears to be at the connector.

The connector is an Andrew H7PDF-S (BN690780), and I want to take it apart
to see why there is no contact with the center conductor, but reading Andrew
installation instructions, there appear to be two connector types. With one,
the rear collar is turned, holding the end side stationary. The second type
holds the rear collar steady, and rotates the front piece. I don't know
which method to employ, and I could find no online instructions for this
particular connector.

Would anyone know how to take this connector apart or have a suggestion on
how to proceed to repair it? It is mated to HJ7-50A air-core heliax.

Thanks,
-Doug, W6DSR
