Sometime this spring, I saw a very nice technical applications note that
discussed the relationship between local noise in urban, suburban, and
rural locations, the output level of various receive antennas, noise
figure of the input preamp, and the loss that can be tolerated on a
transmission line without degrading RX sensitivity.
There's nothing groundbreaking in it -- it's all classic engineering,
done well, but I'd like to reference it for something I'm writing rather
than doing it all over myself.
The main topic may have been the RX antennas or the preamp.
I don't recall whether it was online or in print. I've been through
W3LPL's CTU talk, all the recent issues of QST, QEX, and NCJ.
Thanks and 73, Jim K9YC
