It's important to remember that SWR is NOT an indication of antenna
performance. It ONLY indicates a match to the feedline as measured in
the shack. It does not tell us that the antenna has gain, nor does it
tell us how much gain! Antenna gain and directivity is established by
length and spacing of parasitic element(s) AS A FRACTION OF A
WAVELENGTH. Yes, length and spacing affect feedpoint Z, but once the
antenna is designed and built for gain, we tune the matching element (or
vary the length of the driven element) to optimize the match.

The XM240 will have an SWR of 2:1 or less over either the CW or SSB portion
of the band if tuned according to Cushcraft's dimensions.
