Brilliant Terry! Insulated elements are much easier to model. Unless you
want to model the exact antenna that you have (and I am not sure how you
would do the loading coils), I would build it according to the manual. If
you really want to improve the 402CD either swap in Hi-Q coils for the
little ones or make it in to a Moxon.

The Reflector is grounded to the boom in the 402CD
while the Reflector is insulated from the boom in the newer XM240, I think.
So, part of the difference in element length is probably a correction for the
element mount.
Note that the Driven Elements are insulated from the boom in both models.
