The issues may have been caused by two fold
1. Seals could have became non pliable, cracked, or the outer portion of seal
breached
Replace seal
2. There was trash on gear box when draining
Then likely trash exist between the seal and respective shafts
Get pipe cleaners and run in between the shaft and seal, use a print remover
pic to get clearenc
If it's rusty
Then
Revert to no 1!
Or
Ship to me and I'll get her done I'm three days and send back
